The Two Brothas Counseling Story

Two Brothas Counseling is the product of the inspiration and mentorship of Dr. LaShawn Williams, LCSW. During a conversation, she shared a vision of a collective of Black Mental Health Professionals. That vision became the organization formally known as The Black Clinicians of Utah. Among the organization’s founding members were two Black male Marriage & Family Therapists. Initially, the goal was to open a clinic in Las Vegas, Nevada on June 19, 2021 (Juneteenth). As family and other circumstances impacted plans, Two Brothas Counseling open its doors on January 1, 2022 with just one “brotha,” Tekulve Jackson-Vann as the sole clinician. Again, thanks to the vision of Dr. Williams, the second “brotha,” Greg Noel became a part of the practice in June 2022. Two Brothas Counseling opened their second location in Ogden Utah in May 2023. In addition, Two Brothas Counseling operates via telehealth in Utah, Georgia, Nevada, Michigan, Colorado, Florida, and Arizona. Today, we are truly “two brothas” united in our efforts to improve mental health among underserved populations, including the BIPOC and LGBTQIA+ communities. We are hopeful that our story is still being written even as we help others write their own narratives of health and well-being.
