The photos to the left include one of the first pictures of my dad and me and one of our last pictures together. Losing my father just months before my 40th birthday was one of the most profound losses of my life. Our relationship was not perfect, but over the last few years, we had become the best of friends. He taught me that I should never forget where I came from, no matter how far from home I went.

My father and my uncle made the Harrisburg community of Milledgeville, Georgia, their home. Both also passed away in Harrisburg. More recently, my heart and my mind have been on the place I called home for the first 19 years of my life. To honor the memory of my father and my uncle, I am hoping to give back to the community that raised me. In addition to sponsoring a plot in the Harrisburg Community Garden, Two Brothas Counseling is pleased to provide mental health services to the community.

Beginning July 2026, we will host monthly mental health workshops via Zoom for members of the Harrisburg and Milledgeville community. While we welcome all, we hope to provide a safe place for the Harrisburg community and Milledgeville’s black community to develop coping skills to face life’s everyday challenges. Each workshop will last approximately one hour and is being provided at no cost. Hosting these workshops via Zoom will also remove the barrier of transportation.
